It was still raining when we left Arthur's Pass Village and drove through nice misty landscapes towards the west coast. From Greymouth we headed north up to Punakaiki to see the famous pancake rocks. We have been lucky as it stopped raining after we passed Greymouth and we really liked those strange rocks (see pictures). Afterwards we came back to Greymouth and drove towards Franz Josef stopping at Mahinapua lake next to Ruatapu. The lake was not that special but we had a nice short walk through the rain forest. The road from Greymouth to Ross was very boring but after Ross and up to Franz Josef the road goes through the rain forest and is very nice.....but after Ross it started raining a lot!!!!
