We woke up in North Peru to discover beautiful and very varied landscapes. We arrived at Tumbes 2 hours late at 10am. At the bus station taxis were offering to drive us for 10 NS to the border, we initially planned to catch a bus from Tumbes but took the opportunity and negotiated the price to 5 NS. We shared the taxi with an Italian couple that was also going to Guayaquil. The driver took us to the Peruvian immigration office in Aguas Verde, 30min from Tumbes and then drove us to Huaquillas in Ecuador (which is a very scary town as it is very messy and busy, we were glad to be with the Italian couple and our driver). We wanted to catch a bus to Guayaquil but the Italian couple wanted to go to Guayaquil very quickly as they had a flight to catch at 5pm. They wanted us to get a van that takes 2hours less than the bus. They offered to pay one of our tickets so that will then be the same price for us and they will have a full van to go to Guayaquil. We bought our tickets, well we bought only one ($10), and then took a taxi to the Ecuadorian immigration office where the van picked us up at 12pm.
The trip to Guayaquil was 4h30 and felt very long. As the road is quite bad the driver could not drive very fast.
