Today we will have to catch a bus to Tumbes on our way to Ecuador. The owner of the hotel booked our ticket for going to Tumbes over the phone (Tumbes is a town next to the Ecuadorian border) and we just had to pick them up at the bus station (Lima is such a big city that we had to get a taxi, Miraflores – Cruz del Sur bus station= 6 NS). In Peru each bus company has his own small bus station which does not make things easy for tourists, so we really appreciated this little help. We then took some time to visit Miraflores
and went to the Malecon which goes along impressive cliffs and gives a very nice view on the ocean. The weather was still cloudy and cold but we enjoyed the view.
When catching our bus in the afternoon we got our bags searched and we were filmed before entering the bus and also inside the bus. We were traveling with Cruz del Sur to as the trip to Tumbes is 17h long and this company is the best one in Peru, it offers a high quality and secure service (95NS Lima-Tumbes). The bus was very comfortable and they served us dinner and breakfast.
It took more than 1h30 to cross Lima and we went through very poor areas. After leaving Lima the landscape was very dry. Afterwards the road followed the coast which has impressive cliffs.
