We spent the morning visiting Lima, well we saw the main place the plaza Mayor, the Cathedral, the Covento San Francisco, Santo Domingo and a few more churches but we also did some clothes shopping on Jiron de la union! We noticed that the nice, tidy and rich centre of Lima is very small, wandering around you reach quickly its limits, as a few blocks away from the main place you enter the poor areas. After a nice lunch at Ricky's, a chain of restaurants, watching a Champions League game, the rest of the afternoon was spent updating the blog (that takes a lot of time, especially when the internet connexion is as bad as it is in South America) and getting ready to go to the airport to catch our 7.50pm flight to Pucallpa (town located in the Peruvian Amazon). We arrived on time for our flight (taxi ride from the centre S/18) and had time to have a dinner and visit the nice but expensive shops of the airport. We were about to board the plane when the hostess asked the passengers to go back to their seats as the plane was going to be delayed due to a problem at Pucallpa airport. We have been told that they will give us more information in an hour, however an hour later they told us that they will give us more information in 2h. Passengers started to complain and soon they announced that the flight was cancelled, then delayed and then confirmed it was cancelled. All the other passengers then became very angry and complained, some of them very loudly. And us we were in the middle of all this mess, in Spanish!, wondering what to do. They would not re-schedule the flight and were offering passengers to call the call centre the next day to re-book their flight.....as only the first 40 passengers that had checked in will be able to book a flight on the next day we started to realise that once more we would have to change our itinerary....well not much we can do about it, this is South America!
