To get to Phang Nga from Krabi there are many buses, we got an early one to be able to visit Phang Nga Bay in the afternoon. The trip lasted 2h and cost Bh60. Phang Nga is an ugly town, but we were glad to find a nice Guesthouse, newly opened, Phang Nga Guesthouse. However we did not find any nice place to eat :( We stayed just one night after visiting the famous Phang Nga Bay and left early the next morning.
Phang Nga Bay
We wanted to visit the bay on our own but it appeared very quickly that it will cost us more than a tour as the drivers of the collective taxis did not want to negotiate the very high price they were asking for to get to Phang Nga Bay (they wanted 100Bh per person when the price should be no more than 30Bh). We booked a tour for Bh500 each at Mr Kean agency and thought it was good value for money. We were only 4, us and a young German couple. The tour lasted 4h with 3h on the boat. At the beginning we crossed the mangrove forest and went through very narrow canals, that was fun, we even saw monkeys. The weather started to get cloudy when we reached Phang Nga Bay but the cliffs and caves of this bay were still very impressive. We did a short stop at the very cute James Bond Island and afterwards visited the Muslim Fishermen village of Ko Panyee. A very touristy place but it has still a very special atmosphere. As we started the tour at 2pm we avoided the crowd that comes everyday from Phuket and Krabi earlier in the day and despite the weather we still really had a great time visiting this special place.
