We boarded the Ghan at 12h45 to arrive in Adelaide at the same time the following day. This famous train that travels between Darwin and Adelaide via Alice Springs (2979km in total) has a troubled history, the first line built has been destroyed by floods and the new line was only finished in February 2004. We soon found out why this train has an average speed of only 85km per hour, it's because it stops (in the middle of nowhere) and slows down all the time. We spotted some wildlife along the way, a couple of kangaroos and an emu, all running away from this noisy train. We also enjoyed stunning views at sunset. To travel in this train it's better to have plenty to read and good music to listen to as it starts to be a bit boring after a couple of hours....
