We got up early in the morning and did the 1h Trephina Gorge walk and enjoyed beautiful views. Back at the van we had a nice breakfast and got ready to drive back to Alice Springs. After a nice journey, we really enjoyed the landscapes and also the air conditioning in the van (it was really too hot outside!), we went straight to our hostel to check in. At the hostel Gosia was very surprised to find out that the place was managed by an Irish guy and a Polish girl! After lunch we went to the reptile centre (AU$12 entry fee, only AU$10 with VIP cards). The building and garden are quite small but you can see a lot of snakes and lizards. We arrived just at the end of the handling session and had a chance to have a close look at some funny lizards and a massive Olive Python. Laurence hold the lizards and also the python (see picture), Gosia preferred to be only the photographer! We have been told that 18 of the 20th deadliest snakes can be found in Australia. Good news 90% of the bites to people are dry bites when the snakes do not inject its venom. It was very scary to see all those venomous snakes that can hide so well in their natural environment. We must have walked passed a lot of them in the previous days but thanks God did not see them! After this very interesting visit we dropped our van and walked from the van depot to the city centre under a VERY HOT sun. It is really too hot in the Red Centre, since we arrived the average temperature during the day was between 40 and 45C.... and it did not drop much in the evening!
