We started the Kings Canyon Rim Walk at 7am, a bit late to avoid the heat, but good to avoid all the groups that start the walk earlier. We loved this very scenic walk, it offers stunning views on Kings Canyon, crosses beautiful fields of weathered sandstone domes and has a permanent water hole to cool down at the end of the Garden of Eden path. It took us 4h to do this 6km loop, we could have done it much quicker but we found it hard to take our eyes out of those beautiful landscapes. The temperature was very high for the last hour so as soon as we arrived at the car park we jumped in our van and switched on the air conditioning! We drove to Kings Creek Canyon to have lunch and then drove to Stuarts Wells in the afternoon having a few breaks along the way. While driving we saw a lot of mini tornados easy to spot thanks to the red sand they lift up from the ground. We were happy to find our quiet free site at Stuart Wells and had a great evening following on the radio the Djokovich/Hewit game for the Tennis Australian Open.
