Today we came back from Isabella by speed boat, again it was not fun but it was better than on the way to go. We again tried to find a cheap hotel on this very expensive island and we did not, we picked a nice B&B for $20pppn. We booked a bay tour for the afternoon. We were the only tourists on the tour which was great and our Ecuadorian guide Carlos was very nice but his English was very limited, so we had to use our poor Spanish :). The agency told us to wear good shoes as we will have to do some walking so it was quite funny to see that our guide did nor wear any shoes. The bay tour costs $25 and was from 2pm to 5.30pm (but we started only at 2.30pm so finished at 6pm ...they had to buy some petrol for the boat!). We really enjoyed it. Our guide drove the boat along the cliff where we could see sea lions lying on the rocks and lots of birds (piqueros, pelicans, etc.). We then went to an island 20min away from the port where Laurence went swimming with the sea lions (the water was too cold for Gosia). It was an amazing experience for Laurence, she had up to 5 sea lions swimming around her. We then went to the "canal del amor", a beautiful canal in between two cliffs with clear blue water (our guide told us that usually 2 people come here but 3 leaves!). Afterwards we went for a walk to reach beautiful gorges where the water is very deep. After swimming in those gorges we had a quick drink at a local bar (we tried a liqueur made by our guide!, very strong!) and finally came back to Puerto Ayora. It was time for a hot shower for Laurence as she was freezing after swimming in the cold water!
