Before heading to Kaikoura we went for a short walk (Honeydew walk, 30min return) next to the beautiful lake of Rotoiti, 5 min from St Arnaud. This walk takes you through a nice forest. Then we drove to the lake of Rotoroa, also very nice, and we went for another short walk in the forest. Afterwards we drove South and stopped in Springs Junction, where we had lunch. This town is very small and is in the middle of nowhere, but there is a petrol station so we were glad to be able to get some petrol for the car to continue our journey. From St Arnaud up to Kaikoura we crossed various landscapes but all very nice. At the end of the afternoon we were glad to arrive in Kaikoura after this long journey. There was a little fun fair for kids to celebrate Christmas,...hard to realise that Christmas is in 2 weeks when we are in T-Shirts. We got some hot dogs and went for a walk on the beach when Gosia got robbed.....a bird stole the sausage from her hot dog! Kaikoura is a small town famous for its marine wild life....tomorrow hopefully we are going to see some dolphins and whales....if the weather will be with us!
