We had to leave the Galapagos Islands to go to Quito, we wished we could stay a bit longer to enjoy those beautiful islands that are so relaxing and have so much to offer in terms of landscapes and wildlife. We wanted to catch the bus ($1.80) to cross Santa Cruz Island to get to the ferry ($0.80) which takes you in 5min to Baltra Island where the airport is located. However the lady who was supposed to serve us breakfast at 6h45 turned up only at 7h05! Two ladies from Switzerlands and an American guy were in the same situation, so we all helped the lady to prepare the breakfast. We had a nice chat while having breakfast and then we all catched a cab to go to the bus station ($1 each), but as we were 5 we realised that it will cost us $3 to get a ride to the ferry as the taxi costs $15, so that's what we did as it was nearly the same price as the taxi plus the bus. We arrived very early at the very small airport of Baltra where there is not much to do except having a tea at the only café of the airport or have a look at the shops selling souvenirs, we did not buy anything as Laurence sister told us that we will find the same souvenirs cheaper in Otavalo. The flight to Quito with Tame stops in Guayaquil so it was around 3h long, again the food served during the flight was very good. We arrived in Quito around 3pm and catched a cab to our hotel next to the Quito colonial ($5 the ride). We had a walk around the historical centre before it got dark and found the place quite dodgy. We then had a pizza while watching the champions league: Barcelona-Stuttgart!
