We have spent the morning visiting Cuenca. We saw the new (very big) and the old (very small) cathedrals on the main place, El Parque Calderon and went to 3 markets: El Mercado Nueve de Octubre (for locals, very lively and typical), El Mercado Sangurima (quieter and only for tourists, not that interesting) and El Mercado de Las Flores (small markets with nice flowers). Then we had a nice walk along the river to go back to our hotel and after a quick meal we caught a bus to Loja as we did not feel like staying longer in Cuenca. The bus ride took 5 long hours and it cost $7.50. The landscapes were very nice but the trip felt very long. When we finally arrived in Loja it was night time so we caught a taxi to the centre ($1) and soon realised that the hotels were quite expensive and not that nice in this town. We stayed in the 3rd hotel we visited, called Hotel International ($8 per person). We then had a nice hot dog in an Ecuadorian fast food ($1).
