Friday 19/10/2007 - PERU, Piura, Chiclayo

We got up very early, 5am, to catch a bus to Chiclayo, we got ready very quickly as we did not have a shower, the bathroom was really disgusting in our hotel, Hotel Moon Light, very dodgy. Bad luck for us, the 6am bus was full so we had to wait for the 7am bus, but good luck as this gave us the opportunity to meet again Wout. He kindly invited us at his place when we arrived in Chiclayo so we could have a shower and we also shared a lovely breakfast. At around 12 we caught a small bus to the nearby town of Lambayeque (15min ride, $0,50) to visit the Museo Tumbas Reales de Sipan. The museum was great, very well presented, very well explained and containing beautiful ceramics and jeliweries found in the grave of the lord of Sipan, a very important lord of the Moche civilisation that dominated the North of Peru from 4th to 8th centuries. We returned at the end of the afternoon to Chiclayo and visited the center of the town which was nothing special in terms of buildings but very lively, we quite liked it. We had a nice meal before going to the bus station of Movil Tours to catch a night bus to Chachapoyas at 7.30pm to visit tomorrow the ruins of Kuelap (9h trip, 45 soles bus semi- cama, very comfortable seats).
