We had a "day off" to relax and plan the rest of our trip in Cambodia. It was very nice to stay away from the heat hiding in air-conditioned cafes, but we also took some time to wander in Siem Reap. This town is full of contrasts. Poor houses on one side of the river face luxurious hotels for tourists on this other side. To cater for the numerous tourists coming each year to visit Angkor, Siem Reap has numerous trendy bars and restaurants all located in and around Bar Lane and Bar Street. It was somehow uncomfortable having a drink or a meal in those luxury places knowing that a few kilometers away people lived in appealing conditions.
At the end of the day when we came back to our guesthouse we discovered that the family had some crocodiles at the back of the house… scary!
