Thursday 31/01/2008 - SINGAPORE, Singapore _ MALAYSIA, Malacca "Going to Malaysia"

In the morning we wanted to send home some souvenirs that we had bought in Australia! We went to the post office located next to Raffles place MRT station and struggled to find it as it is located in one of the skyscrapers, a labyrinth full of shops and restaurants....even people working in shops were not sure where exactly the post office was! Afterwards we had lunch in a massive and very busy food court located in the basement of the building. We then caught the MRT to Lavender station to get to the International Bus Station where we caught our bus to Malacca (5h30, S$16). Crossing the border was very easy but the trip to Malacca was quite boring. We travelled on the highway that goes from Singapour to Kuala Lumpur (via a bridge) and it crosses only palm oil plantations. When we arrived in Malacca we were surprised to find out how big is the city. It took the bus a good 30min to cross the suburbs to get to the bus station, we saw a lot of massive shopping centres along the way. When we arrived at the bus station we were so hungry that we had dinner at a restaurant next to a big Tesco (a familiar name!) across the street. Afterwards we caught a cab to our hotel (RM15), Kancil Gest House.
