Horse riding! We went to the agency at 9am where we met our guide Julio and Amelie another tourist from France who did the tour with us. We really had a great day, Julio was very nice and helpful and we really got on well with Amelie. We went to the Podocarpus National Park where the vegetation is more tropical. Around Vilacabamba the mountains are quite dry and the vegetation is very low, only cactus and dry bushes. Getting closer to the edge of the park the vegetation became greener and more tropical. We stopped on the way to see a waterfall and when we reached the park we left the horses to walk in the tropical forest. We had lunch next to a river and then walk through the forest to see another waterfall. On our way we saw some Podacarpus trees which are very rare now as they have been cut a lot due to the high quality of their wood. The park was created to protect these trees. We returned to Vilcabamba via another trail and again we saw stunning landscapes. We spent the rest of the day with Amelie relaxing and chatting.
